Based on the first volume of Spike Milligan's wartime memoirs, this film follows a young recruit's journey into the 56th Heavy Regiment of the Royal Artillery during World War II. As he reluctantly obeys his call-up papers, Milligan and his mischievous crew stumble through a series of amusing and absurd misadventures. It is a brilliant comedy satire that captures Milligan's unique sense of humor amidst the backdrop of wartime training.
