Five years after the siege of Rochester in 1221, the Scots storm the castle of the de Vesci family. The father is wounded, and he sends his son, Hubert, to find his cousin Guy de Lusignan, a mercenary, to defend them. Hubert and Guy recruit warriors and return to the castle to defend the building against the attacking forces.
