«Quién mató a Walter Benjamin…» is the documentary by David Mauas (2005), featuring Juan Ramón Capella, Félix de Azúa and Stéphane Hessel, on DVD.
The documentary reconstructs the last hours of philosopher Walter Benjamin, who in 1940 tried to cross the Pyrenees to flee Nazism and died in Portbou under unexplained circumstances. Testimonies from close associates, reconstructions and documents contrast suicide with the medical report of natural death and question the role of the Spanish authorities.
Duration: 73 minutes. Track in Spanish Dolby Digital 2.0; also in Catalan, English, French, German and Hebrew in stereo. Subtitles in Spanish and English. Multi-region DVD with 1.33:1 image.
For those interested in the figure of Walter Benjamin, the history of the Second World War and historical research documentaries.
