«Brahms: Symphonie No. 2 / Akademische Festouvertüre» is the album by Johannes Brahms, released in 1983 by Deutsche Grammophon on CD.
The album brings together two orchestral works by Brahms: Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73, and the Academic Festival Overture, Op. 80. In the performance by the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Bernstein, the lyrical calm of the symphony contrasts with the celebratory tone of the overture.
Digital stereo recording, catalogue number 410 082-2, single CD; European edition.
For classical music collectors and admirers of Leonard Bernstein and the Vienna Philharmonic.
