«Llibre Vermell de Montserrat / Cantigas de Santa Maria» is the medieval music album by Alla Francesca, released in 1995 on the Opus 111 label, on CD.
The disc brings together pieces from the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat, a 14th-century manuscript with songs and dances of the monastery's pilgrims, alongside a selection of the Cantigas de Santa María attributed to Alfonso X the Wise. Alla Francesca performs them with voices and period instruments such as vihuela, rebec and transverse flutes.
Direction is by Pierre Hamon and Brigitte Lesne, and the recording was made at the Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud; the pieces are sung in Latin, Occitan and Galician.
For fans of early music and medieval polyphony, as well as recreations with period instruments.
