«1917 - A Rússia em Revolução» is the historical essay by Nicolas Werth, published by Quimera Editores in paperback (160 pages, in Portuguese).
Russia, disorganized by war, cold and hunger, sees a revolution break out in Petrograd that forces Tsar Nicholas II to abdicate. Werth reconstructs the rise of the soviets, where workers, peasants and soldiers intervene for the first time, and how Lenin's Bolshevik minority prevails in October, with its hopes and its myths.
Originally published in French as «1917: La Russie en révolution» in 1997; the Portuguese edition is from 2003.
For those interested in the Russian Revolution and in the political and social history of the twentieth century.
