«A la sombra del templo» is the historical novel by Toti Martínez de Lezea, published by Embolsillo in paperback (400 pages, in Spanish).
Vitoria, 1522: the city is the capital of the kingdom and center of Christendom while the church of Santa María is being built. A beggar found next to the master builder's corpse flees and seeks asylum in the church. The echoes of the comunero revolt, the feuds and forbidden loves intertwine during the stay of the new pope Adrian VI.
Part of the Toti Martínez de Lezea Library. The novel was originally published in 2005; this edition is from 2008.
Will appeal to readers of historical fiction and to those who want to discover sixteenth-century Vitoria and the passage of Charles V and Adrian VI through the city.
