In Victorian England, Margaret Prior, a young woman from high society, finds herself disoriented after the death of her father and attempts suicide. To recover, she decides to visit the Millbank women's prison, where she meets Selina Dawes, a spiritualist medium accused of fraud. Margaret is drawn to Selina and her mysterious world, and soon both women find themselves involved in an intense and disturbing relationship, where reality and illusion intertwine in a labyrinth of secrets and hidden desires. A story of love and obsession in an oppressive and fascinating environment.
