«Antropología histórica de la familia» is the anthropology essay by Martine Segalen, published by Taurus in 1992 in hardcover (264 pages, in Spanish).
The author studies the family comparatively and places it in a sociohistorical perspective, alternating analysis of recent changes with a long-term view. The book reviews the blows suffered by the family institution in the West over recent decades and the contemporary return to family values, and proposes a method for students and readers to relate family transformations to those of society.
The work had already appeared in French, English, Japanese and German before this 1992 Spanish edition.
Suitable for students and readers with academic interest in sociology, anthropology and family history.
Martine Segalen was a French ethnologist. A specialist on family matters and European culture, she was a professor for multiple universities.
