«Antropología simbólica y acción educativa» is Joan-Carles Mèlich's essay on educational anthropology, published by Paidós in paperback (192 pages).
It proposes an introduction to the anthropology of education from the symbolic: culture is built with symbols that translate violence, sex and death. Mèlich analyzes the earth, the sun, the moon, the serpent and the labyrinth and, with René Girard's anthropology, finds the archetype of the scapegoat.
First volume in the Educador collection. Joan-Carles Mèlich (Barcelona, 1961) is a senior lecturer in philosophy of education at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
Work aimed at readers interested in the intersection between education, philosophy and cultural anthropology.
