«Aves de presa» is the adventure novel by Wilbur Smith, published by Emecé in 1997 in hardcover (510 pages, in Spanish).
Set in 1667, the novel follows Sir Francis Courteney and his son Hal during the naval war between Holland and England, when they capture a galleon of the East India Company. Among the hostages are a colonial governor and his wife Katinka, whose ambition endangers the Courteney family. The work combines action at sea with a plot of pirates and conspiracies.
«Aves de presa» is the ninth installment of the Courtney series. Translated by Edith Zilli, its original title is «Birds of Prey».
Recommended for readers of historical fiction and maritime adventures, as well as for followers of Wilbur Smith's Courtney saga.
