Set in the summer of 2013, the world is on the brink of chaos. Local conflicts are multiplying, China is torn apart by civil war, and climate change threatens the planet's ecology, while legal power is managed by mafia clans with the help of cutting-edge information technology. From this 'Babylonian' scenario emerges Hugo Cornélius Toorop, the idealistic mercenary already at the center of Maurice G. Dantec's first novel, 'La sirena rossa'. Having escaped the Chinese conflict, Toorop is recruited by the Siberian mafia to escort Marie Zorn from Russia to Canada, a young woman who holds an incredible secret, a shocking discovery capable of changing the destiny of humanity forever. This is just the beginning of a dizzying epic, straddling spy story, thriller, and science fiction.
