Carlos V

Synopsis of Carlos V

«Carlos V: Un emperador para Europa» is the biography of Charles V by Otto von Habsburg, published by Edaf Antillas in paperback (294 pages, in Spanish).

The book reconstructs the life and reign of Charles V, from his education in Burgundy to his role as Duke of Burgundy, King of Spain and Holy Roman Emperor. It presents a sovereign who conceived Europe as a Christian unity and placed the defense of the faith above politics, in conflict with France, the German princes and the Roman curia.

This edition belongs to the Clío collection from Edaf. The cover reproduces «El emperador Carlos V en Mühlberg», by Titian, from the Prado Museum.

For readers interested in the history of Europe, the Holy Roman Empire and the Hispanic monarchy, and in sixteenth-century political thought.
