«Cómo se hace una tesis» is Umberto Eco's methodology manual, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardcover (262 pages, in Spanish).
The book explains what a doctoral thesis is and what it is for, and proposes a working method that goes from choosing the topic to the final draft: searching for material, work plan, index cards, writing techniques and guidelines for presenting and correcting the text before a committee.
Translation of the original work «Come si fa una tesi di laurea», signed by Lucía Baranda and Alberto Clavería Ibáñez. The edition belongs to the Círculo Universidad collection.
Aimed at university students and researchers who need to plan, write and present a doctoral thesis.
Umberto Eco was an Italian medievalist, philosopher, semiotician, novelist, cultural critic, and political and social commentator. In English, he is best known for his popular 1980 novel The Name of the Rose, a historical mystery combining semiotics in fiction with biblical analysis, medieval studies and literary theory, as well as Foucault's Pendulum, his 1988 novel which touches on the history of occultism and its contemporary interpretation through the new age movement.
