«El año del gallo: chinos y rebeldes» is the political essay by Guy Sorman, published in 2007 by Editorial Gota a Gota in hardcover (352 pages, in Spanish).
Sorman analyzes how the West has idealized China and contrasts that image with reality: a communist regime that employs market rhetoric without being democratic, with widespread corruption and non-independent justice. After interviewing dissidents, he states that the Chinese people seek democracy and freedom, and denounces Western complacency.
The work is number 10 of the Colección verde and was translated from French by Delia Aurora Mateovich Butorovich.
For those interested in the political and economic analysis of present-day China and in criticism of the communist regime.
Guy Sorman is a French-American professor, columnist, author, and public intellectual in economics and philosophy.
