«El arte de la mentira política» is a collection of essays by Jonathan Swift and John Arbuthnot, in paperback, published by Sequitur.
It brings together two eighteenth-century satirical essays on lying as a political tool. Swift defines it as the art of making people believe healthy falsehoods for a good end, a logic the authors consider recognizable in contemporary politics.
Bilingual Spanish-English edition: introduction and notes in Spanish. Translation by Francisco Ochoa de Michelena; introduction by Jean-Jacques Courtine. Sequitur Classics collection; second edition.
For those interested in political philosophy and the classic satirical essay, with evident applications to current public debate.
Jonathan Swift was an Anglo-Irish writer, essayist, satirist, and Anglican cleric. He was the author of the satirical prose novel Gulliver's Travels (1726) and the creator of the fictional island of Lilliput. He is regarded by many as the greatest satirist of the Georgian era and one of the foremost prose authors in the history of English and world literature.
