The Magisterium of the Church or Enchiridion Symbolorum collects the confessions of faith, the conciliar decisions, the decrees of synods and the encyclicals of the ecclesiastical Magisterium. The original Latin version, prepared by Dr. Denzinger and published for the first time in 1854, has been reissued over more than a century in more than thirty successive editions continuously revised and amended by specialists. The 38th edition of the "Denzinger", updated by Professor Hünermann of the University of Tübingen, is characterized by being completed by a selection of texts from the Magisterium taken from the official documents of the Second Vatican Council, the pontifical encyclicals, the declarations of the CELAM and the documents of the post-conciliar era until 1995. This edition, according to the tradition of the work, consists of two parts: the first includes the creeds or confessions of faith of the ancient Church; the second part, the documents of the ecclesiastical Magisterium structured in chronological order and in relation to the corresponding pontificates of the bishops of Rome. The objective of this new bilingual version is to present the dogmatic heritage of the Church through the translation into Spanish of the original texts, written mainly in Latin and Greek, but also in German, Spanish, French, English and Italian. For this new edition, the historical introductions and epigraphs, the titles of the columns and the footnotes, the indexes, the indications of sources and the bibliographies have been merged. The text of the documents has been re-examined and amended with the help of critical editions. Special attention has also been paid to the revision of the systematic index, by virtue of the new theological approaches of the Second Vatican Council and the post-conciliar documents. Generations of theologians have used and have been using the "Denzinger" as a study tool and source of consultation for the texts that expose the dogmatic truths and the interpretations of the Church.
