Synopsis of El pájaro burlón
En un futuro distópico en Estados Unidos, la civilización supertécnica está en decadencia. Paul, un profesor que sabe leer en una época donde está prohibido, es encargado por un robot llamado Spofforth de investigar sobre el cine mudo, lo que le lleva a descubrir un mundo diferente. En el zoo, conoce a Mary Lou, una joven que vive allí ilegalmente, y surge el amor. Cuando el robot los descubre, Paul es encarcelado pero logra escapar y se dirige a Nueva York, donde es respetado por colonias cristianas por leerles la Biblia. Walter Stone Tevis Jr. was an American novelist and screenwriter. Three of his six novels were adapted into major films: The Hustler, The Color of Money and The Man Who Fell to Earth.
