«El perquè de tot plegat» is the short story collection by Quim Monzó published by Quaderns Crema in paperback, with 176 pages, in Catalan.
The thirty stories that make up the volume complement each other to compose a portrait of eternal human uncertainty. With a synthetic, seemingly simple prose full of irony, Monzó addresses relationships, chance and the fragility of certainties, in a register of black humor that makes the everyday unsettling.
It is number 48 in the Mínima Minor collection, in its second edition published in 2014. The work won the Premi Ciutat de Barcelona and the Premi de la Crítica Serra d'Or in 1993.
A work for readers of contemporary short fiction, especially for those who appreciate Catalan literature with irony and acid humor.
