«El retrato de Dorian Gray» is Oscar Wilde's only novel, published by Valdemar in paperback (368 pages, in Spanish).
Oscar Wilde's only novel starts from a fantastic premise: a portrait ages in place of Dorian Gray, who keeps his beauty while the canvas accumulates the physical and moral decay of his deeds. Wilde sprinkles the tale with epigrams and irony to build a fable about art, youth and Victorian hypocrisy.
Work originally published in 1890. This edition is number 66 of Valdemar's El Club Diógenes collection, with a translation by Beatriz Torreblanca.
For readers of Victorian classics and of fantastic or Gothic literature, with an interest in the debate between beauty and morality.

Oscar Fingal O'Fflahertie Wills Wilde was an Irish author, poet and playwright. After writing in different literary styles throughout the 1880s, he became one of the most popular and influential dramatists in London in the early 1890s. He was a key figure in the emerging Aestheticism movement of the late 19th century and is widely regarded as the greatest playwright of the Victorian era. Wilde is best known for his Gothic novel The Picture of Dorian Gray (1890), his epigrams, plays and bedtime stories for children, as well as his criminal conviction in 1895 for gross indecency and for practicing homosexual acts.
