«El tiempo de la amistad» (short stories 1948-1976) is a collection of tales by Paul Bowles, published by Alfaguara in hardcover, 392 pages, in Spanish.
Stories portraying North African life: legends such as the death of Megadan's children, the self-interested use of a superstition, glances veiled by kif, and encounters between distant cultures. In that universe, passions are at the mercy of the environment, and the desert marks those who live without roots.
Subtitled «Cuentos 1948-1976», it is number 176 in Alfaguara's Literaturas collection, translated by Héctor Silva.
Aimed at readers of contemporary fiction and short stories, especially those seeking North African settings and Paul Bowles's view of Morocco.
Paul Frederic Bowles was an American composer, author, and translator. He became associated with the Moroccan city of Tangier, where he settled in 1947 and lived for 52 years to the end of his life.
