«Els criminals» is the play by Ferdinand Bruckner, published by Generalitat de Catalunya in paperback (209 pages, in Catalan).
Premiered in Berlin in 1928, the piece combines simultaneous scenes to show how the lives of several characters cross and lead to situations that a court examines in the second act. Their conduct questions the boundary between law and criminality, in a harsh and dehumanized environment where the judicial system still does not recognize the change that the street already demands.
Translation from German by Kàtia Pago. First edition published on January 25, 2024.
Aimed at theatre readers and those studying interwar European drama.
