«En busca del unicornio» is the historical novel by Juan Eslava Galán, published in 2001 by Bibliotex in hardcover (221 pages, in Spanish).
In 1471, Henry IV of Castile, called the Impotent, sends some crossbowmen to Africa in search of the horn of a unicorn, which, it is believed, will restore the king's virility. Guided by the paladin Juan de Olid, they cross a continent in pursuit of a perhaps nonexistent beast, in an adventure combining historical fiction, humor, and fantastical elements.
This work won the Planeta Prize in 1987 and was originally published in 1988; the present edition, from 2001, belongs to the Biblioteca El Mundo collection.
For readers of historical and adventure novels who appreciate humor, fantasy, and expeditions through medieval Africa.
