«Esperanza. La autobiografía» is the autobiography of Pope Francis, published by Plaza & Janés in hardcover (336 pages, in Spanish).
The work narrates the life of Jorge Bergoglio: his Italian roots, emigration to Latin America, his childhood in Argentina, his vocation and his pontificate. Francis reviews current issues: war and peace, migrations, environmental crisis, social policy, sexuality and the future of the Church. It includes photographs from his personal collection, some unpublished.
It is the first autobiography of a pontiff published in history. The edition was published on January 16, 2025.
For those who follow the figure of Pope Francis and seek a personal vision of the Church and the challenges of today's world.
Pope Francis was head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of Vatican City from 13 March 2013 until his death in 2025. He was the first Jesuit pope, the first Latin American, and the first pope born or raised outside Europe since the 8th-century Syrian pope Gregory III.
