In a small town in Pará, full of miners, unscrupulous merchants, prostitutes and hitmen, the photographer Cauby gets involved with the mysterious and seductive Lavínia, wife of an evangelical pastor who took her off the streets and drugs. As he begins to narrate the facts of Eu receberia as piores notícias dos seus lindos lábios, the photographer Cauby is convalescing from a trauma in a cheap boarding house, in a city in Pará about to be the scene of a new gold rush. His voice is impregnated with the experience of someone who has learned all the rules of survival in the underworld - but it is not the hostile environment around him that he is talking about. The reason for his descent into hell is Lavínia, the mysterious and seductive wife of Ernani, an evangelical pastor. The trajectory of the photographer, given to premonitions and a disenchanted humor, is explained by means of clues: the story of Chang, a photographer who died in a pedophilia scandal; the mystery of Viktor Laurence, a local journalist who prepares a silent revenge; the life of Ernani, who took Lavínia off the streets and drugs in the past. Even in the face of all the risks, Cauby decides to fulfill his destiny with the fatalism of the tragic characters. "I never believed in the devil," he says. "Only in people seduced by evil."
