«Homenaje a Cataluña» is George Orwell's autobiographical account of the Spanish Civil War, in paperback from Seix Barral (230 pages, Spanish).
Orwell narrates in the first person his time in the Spanish Civil War as a member of the POUM militia on the Aragon front. The account combines daily life in the trenches with a chronicle of political tensions, reflecting the initial idealism, camaraderie and disillusionment amid the internal struggles of the Republican side.
The 1985 edition, number 51 of Seix Barral's Literatura Contemporánea collection, includes a translation by Carlos Pujol. The book was originally published as Homage to Catalonia in 1938.
For readers of war memoirs, Spanish history and twentieth-century political chronicle, as well as followers of George Orwell's testimonial work.
