«In Quest of the Sacred Baboon» is Hans Kummer's primatology essay, published by Princeton University Press in hardcover (408 pages, in English).
Primatologist Hans Kummer recounts his field research on the hamadryas baboon between a Zurich zoo, the deserts of Ethiopia, and the Asir mountains in Saudi Arabia. He describes his coexistence with nomads, the species' social life, and its appearance in ancient Egyptian art, which may have interpreted its morning grooming rituals as sun worship.
First edition; translation by M. Ann Biederman-Thorson. Belongs to the Princeton Legacy Library collection and includes bibliographic references and an index.
For university students and professionals in primatology and zoology, and for readers interested in animal behavior.
