«Inquisición» is the historical novel by Miguel Betanzos, published by Edhasa in hardcover (504 pages, in Spanish).
Through the device of a found manuscript, Felipe Zamora, a warder of the prisons of the Holy Office, recounts by letter to his beloved the daily life of an environment marked by surveillance and fear. The narrative, with echoes of the picaresque, combines the protagonist's life, his amorous attempts and the atmosphere of the Inquisition.
Subtitled Las cárceles del Santo Oficio, it belongs to the Narrativas Históricas collection; it was published in Barcelona in 2004 in an edition with an illustrated dust jacket.
For readers of historical fiction interested in the Spanish Inquisition and in epistolary fictions with a realistic setting.
