«Je vous demande le droit de mourir» is the testimony of Vincent Humbert and Frédéric Veille, published by J'ai lu in paperback (192 pages, in French).

Vincent Humbert became tetraplegic, blind and mute and, in December 2002, asked the president of France for the right to die; the request was denied. Bedridden and aware of the suffering his situation causes his mother, Marie, who accompanies him relentlessly, he only hopes that someone will put an end to his torment. His account reopened the debate on euthanasia and dignified death in France.

The text, with words by Vincent Humbert collected and developed by Frédéric Veille, was originally published in 2003; this French paperback edition is from 2004.
