«John Peel» is the biography of the influential British DJ and broadcaster written by Mick Wall, published by Orion in hardcover (240 pages, in English).
The book traces the life of John Peel, from his childhood in Cheshire to becoming a key figure in British radio. After his early days in the United States, where he coincided with the assassination of Lee Harvey Oswald, he returned to the UK and joined Radio One in its early days. His late-night shows introduced bands such as The Smiths, Pulp and Joy Division, and his support was decisive for artists who, without him, would not have made it into the music industry.
Born in 1939, Peel received the OBE in 1998 for his services to broadcasting. The biography includes testimonies from those who knew him, portraying his professional and personal side.
Recommended for fans of British rock music and for those who want to learn about the legacy of one of the most influential voices on radio.
