Los artÃculos de Pla sobre la Alemania de preguerra, por primera vez en un libro.áA consecuencia, entre otras causas, de las reparaciones exigidas a Alemania después de la Primera Guerra Mundial en el Tratado de Versalles (1919), una fuerte crisis económica hizo que, hace cien años, la moneda alemana se desplomase. Josep Pla, corresponsal en BerlÃn del diario La Publicitat, fue testigo. Junto a otro periodista, Eugeni Xammar, se movió por el paÃs y comprendió con lucidez todos los matices de la situación, detectó los personajes principales ?entre ellos, un «histérico del nacionalismo» llamado Adolf Hitler? y supo relatar lo que veÃa en unas crónicas magnÃficas que enviaba al periódico. Ochenta y ocho de aquellos artÃculos se recogen ahora por primera vez en un volumen, que supone una aportación de primer orden a la bibliografÃa planiana.
