«La Nuit de Valognes» is a play by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, published by Actes Sud Papiers in paperback (87 pages, in French).
One night, several women gather at the castle of the Duchess of Vaubricourt to judge Don Juan, the seducer who abandoned them. They want to force him to marry Angélique, his latest conquest, but he unexpectedly accepts. Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt reworks the Don Juan myth and projects it toward a contemporary spiritual unease.
The play has ten characters: seven women and three men. The performance lasts approximately an hour and a half.
For theater readers and for those studying rewritings of the Don Juan myth.
