«La senda del perdedor» is Charles Bukowski's autobiographical novel, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardcover (246 pages, in Spanish).
A novel centered on the character Chinaski and the lives of German immigrants in the United States, with the «other America» of backyards, seedy bars and unemployment offices as a backdrop. Written without self-pity, it conveys a stoic fraternity with losers and the refuge in reading as the forging of a writer.
The original work, «Ham on Rye», was published in 1982; this Spanish edition appeared in 1987.
For readers of twentieth-century American fiction and coming-of-age novels, as well as those wishing to approach Bukowski's literature.
Henry Charles Bukowski was a German-American poet, novelist, and short story writer. His writing was influenced by the social, cultural, and economic ambience of his adopted home city of Los Angeles. Bukowski's work addresses the ordinary lives of poor Americans, the act of writing, alcohol, relationships with women, and the drudgery of work.
