«Vida es sueño» is the philosophical play by Pedro Calderón de la Barca, published by Editorial Juventud in paperback, with 142 pages in Spanish.
Segismundo, son of King Basilio, has lived locked up since birth because his father fears that, according to an omen, he will come to rule as a tyrant. To test the prophecy, Basilio frees him for a day and entrusts him with power. The play thus explores whether existence is dream or reality, and the weight of destiny and freedom.
It belongs to the CLÁSICOS collection, with edition and notes by Martín de Riquer and illustrations by Lorenzo Goñi.
Recommended for students of Spanish literature and for those seeking the classics of Golden Age theater.
Dramaturgo español del Siglo de Oro, autor de La vida es sueño, El alcalde de Zalamea y numerosos autos sacramentales.
