«Las inquietudes de Shanti Andía» is the maritime adventure novel by Pío Baroja, published by Austral in paperback (328 pages, in Spanish).
Shanti Andía, an aging Basque sailor, recalls his life through a diary: childhood in a coastal village, dreamy youth, and voyages as a frigate captain. His account intertwines with the fascinating figure of his uncle Juan de Aguirre, an adventurous sailor, and with interwoven stories of other characters seeking wonders, in a nostalgic evocation of the sea and lives marked by adventure.
First installment of Pío Baroja's El Mar series. This edition includes an introduction by Darío Villanueva and belongs to the Austral Narrativa collection.
