«Las minas del rey Salomón» is the adventure novel by Henry Rider Haggard, published by Anaya in hardcover (261 pages, in Spanish).
Allan Quatermain, elephant hunter, ventures into unexplored regions of Africa at the end of the 19th century in search of the legendary mines of King Solomon. Wild beasts, hostile nature and warrior tribes line the route, while the narrative asks whether materialist civilization can be more savage than those peoples.
First installment of the Allan Quatermain series, published in 1981 in the Tus Libros collection.
Classic of 19th-century adventure literature, aimed at young readers.
Sir Henry Rider Haggard was an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations, predominantly Africa, and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. He was also involved in land reform throughout the British Empire. His stories, situated at the lighter end of Victorian literature and including the eighteen Allan Quatermain stories beginning with King Solomon's Mines, continue to be popular and influential.
