«Las ratas» is the novel by Miguel Delibes, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardcover (207 pages, in Spanish).
Set in a Castilian village, the novel follows El Nini, a boy who lives in a cave with the Ratero and survives by hunting rats in the river. Through a series of vignettes, Delibes composes a portrait of poverty and rural marginalization, where the harshness of life coexists with profound humanity.
Novel winner of the Premio de la Crítica de Narrativa Castellana in 1963, with illustrations by José Vela Zanetti; belongs to the collection 'Joyas literarias ilustradas'.
For readers of Spanish literature classics and stories about popular life in Castile and its landscapes.
