Synopsis of Le Cousin Pons
Le Cousin Pons es una novela del escritor francés Honoré de Balzac, publicada en 1847. Forma parte de su serie de novelas La Comédie humaine (La comedia humana). La historia narra la vida de Sylvain Pons, un músico pobre que es engañado por sus ricos parientes cuando descubren que su colección de arte y antigüedades vale una fortuna. A diferencia de su contraparte, Cousin Bette, quien busca venganza contra quienes la han humillado, Cousin Pons sufre pasivamente mientras su salud se deteriora y finalmente muere. Balzac muestra cómo una persona sin recursos puede ser aplastada por una sociedad que no tiene más valores que los materiales.
