Le Mariage de Figaro de Beaumarchais es la continuación de El barbero de Sevilla. En esta comedia satírica, Figaro lucha contra el Conde Almaviva en vísperas de su boda con Suzanne, enfrentándose a los privilegios nobiliarios del Antiguo Régimen. Escrita en el siglo XVIII, la obra fue censurada durante cuatro años antes de su triunfal estreno en 1784. Es considerada una pieza clave que prefigura los ideales de la Revolución Francesa a través de una trama llena de enredos, disfraces y crítica social.
