«Le vieux qui lisait des romans d'amour» is the ecological novel by Luis Sepúlveda published by Editions Métailié in paperback (136 pages, in French).
In El Idilio, near the Amazon rainforest, the appearance of a mutilated corpse triggers accusations against the indigenous people. Antonio José Bolívar, an old reader of sentimental novels and great connoisseur of the jungle, identifies the track of a wild beast and sets out to hunt it. The novel describes a hostile Amazon with the air of a traditional tale.
The book belongs to the Suites collection from Editions Métailié; the French translation is by François Maspero and the edition is from 2004.
For readers of ecological and adventure novels seeking a short story set in the Amazon rainforest.
