Este libro recoge el texto de la intervención de Jordi Pujol i Soley, entonces presidente de la Generalitat de Catalunya, durante las Jornadas Internacionales de Servicios Sociales celebradas en el Palacio de Congresos de Barcelona. En esta obra, el autor analiza el estado actual del bienestar social y reflexiona sobre los desafíos futuros para su sostenibilidad. Pujol argumenta que el mantenimiento del Estado del Bienestar depende fundamentalmente de la recuperación de valores cívicos y actitudes solidarias por parte de la ciudadanía. Asimismo, el autor examina las limitaciones inherentes a la acción estatal y subraya la importancia de contar con una sociedad civil estructurada para afrontar los retos sociales contemporáneos.
