The Parasites is a novel by Daphne du Maurier, published in 1949. The story centers on the Delaney family, seemingly blessed but secretly cursed. Celia, a talented artist who denies her gift; Maria, a successful actress unable to share her most important role with her loved ones; and Niall, a brilliant composer who despises his talent. Together, they move through life wrapped in fantasies and the past, until an unexpected revelation forces them to confront truths that not all will be able to accept.

Dame Daphne du Maurier, Lady Browning, was an English novelist, biographer and playwright. Her parents were actor-manager Sir Gerald du Maurier and his wife, actress Muriel Beaumont.
