In 'The Whispers of War', Masood Khalili recounts the adventures of a journey through villages, valleys and mountains of Afghanistan, full of dangers. The author tells us in the form of a diary addressed to his wife, Sohaila, whom he misses as well as his two children, reflecting on freedom, justice, poverty, misery and loneliness, as well as the drama of war. Through its pages, he describes his joys, concerns and sorrows, as well as those of the compatriots he meets during his journey, mostly refugees. Khalili's sensitive pen transports us to a different, unknown Afghanistan, far from the sterile and desert image we have of it, while bringing us closer to the pain of his people, showing us that war is never the way.
