«Mi padre y yo» is the posthumous autobiography by J.R. Ackerley, published by Editorial Anagrama in hardcover (224 pages, in Spanish).
J.R. Ackerley reconstructs his relationship with a father who led a double life, with two parallel families that ignored each other. Interwoven with that story is the author's own: that of a homosexual intellectual in search of a «true friend». The work opens with a famous beginning: «Yo nací en 1896, y mis padres se casaron en 1919».
Volume 229 of Anagrama's Panorama de narrativas collection, in Barcelona. First edition of September 1991. Translation by Rafael Ruiz de la Cuesta.
For readers of autobiographies and literary memoirs, particularly of twentieth-century British narrative.
