«Once a Jolly Bagman» is the memoir by Alistair McAlpine, published by W&N in hardcover (273 pages, in English).
McAlpine, a descendant of the construction company bearing his surname, reviews an unconventional life: confidant of Margaret Thatcher for much of her term, treasurer of the Conservative Party, patron of the visual arts, sheep breeder, and manager of a zoo in Australia. His memoirs offer an unrestricted look inside the Thatcher administrations.
