«Orgull i prejudici» is the young-adult adaptation of Jane Austen's romantic novel, published by Barcanova in paperback (184 pages, in Catalan).
In 18th-century England, the five Bennet sisters' lives are turned upside down by the arrival of an attractive, wealthy gentleman and his friend Darcy. Elizabeth Bennet despises Darcy, but their relationship evolves until an attraction develops. The adaptation preserves the gallery of characters and the critique of the era's social rigidity.
Part of Barcanova's «Clàssics a mida» collection, in its first edition published on February 22, 2018.
Recommended for young readers aged 12 and up; can be used as secondary-school reading.
Jane Austen was an English writer known primarily for her six novels, which implicitly interpret, critique, and comment on the English landed gentry at the end of the 18th century.
