«Planning English Sentences» is Douglas E. Appelt's study of natural language generation, published by Cambridge University Press in hardcover.
The book investigates how to generate natural language expressions that meet the speaker's goals, a central problem in artificial intelligence. Using an intensional logic of knowledge and action, it formalizes illocutionary acts and speaker beliefs, and illustrates the theory in the KAMP system (Knowledge and Modalities Planner).
Published in 1985, in English; it has 180 pages and is part of the Studies in Natural Language Processing series.
Work aimed at university students, researchers, and professionals in natural language processing and artificial intelligence.
