«Rebeldes primitivos» is Eric J. Hobsbawm's study of social history, published by Crítica in paperback (312 pages, in Spanish).
The book studies the archaic forms of social movements in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries: bandits, Andalusian anarchists, British labor sects, the Mafia and peasants from Colombia and Peru. Hobsbawm presents them as pre-political groups without their own language and analyzes how their rebelliousness anticipated modern movements.
2001 edition, translated into Spanish by Joaquín Romero Maura. Belongs to the Libros de Historia collection. Originally published in 1959.
For readers of social history and sociology, and for those who want to approach a classic by Hobsbawm.
Eric John Ernest Hobsbawm was a British historian of the rise of industrial capitalism, socialism and nationalism. His best-known works include his tetralogy about what he called the "long 19th century" and the "short 20th century", and an edited volume that introduced the influential idea of "invented traditions". He was a life-long Marxist, and his socio-political convictions influenced the character of his work.
