«Sexualidad: La Maravilla, La Errancia, El Enigma» is a philosophical essay by Paul Ricoeur, published by Almagesto in hardcover (22 pages, in Spanish).
Ricoeur reflects on sexuality as a philosophical phenomenon: the wonder, the wandering, and the enigma of love, sexual behavior, and eroticism. Faced with the loss of meaning of sexuality, he proposes a conjugal ethic with new sacredness.
Published in Buenos Aires in July 1991. The text comes from an article that appeared in the journal Esprit in November 1960.
For philosophy readers interested in the thought of Paul Ricoeur and in ethical reflection on sexuality.
Jean Paul Gustave Ricœur was a French philosopher best known for combining phenomenological description with hermeneutics. As such, his thought is within the same tradition as other major hermeneutic phenomenologists, such as Martin Heidegger, Hans-Georg Gadamer, and Gabriel Marcel. In 2000, he was awarded the Kyoto Prize in Arts and Philosophy for having "revolutionized the methods of hermeneutic phenomenology, expanding the study of textual interpretation to include the broad yet concrete domains of mythology, biblical exegesis, psychoanalysis, theory of metaphor, and narrative theory."
