«Siempre tuvimos héroes» is Javier Santamarta del Pozo's essay on Spanish history and its contribution to humanitarianism, published by Edaf in paperback (256 pages, in Spanish).
The book brings together episodes and characters from nearly a thousand years of Spanish history, from 1085 to 1971, in which humanitarianism was the main task of the heroes we always had. Against the usual emphasis on military feats, the work vindicates figures such as María del Carmen Angoloti y Mesa, Alfonso XIII or Fidel Pagés Miravé, who put their lives at the service of others. A journey that invites pride in a universal legacy.
A work of historical popularization that aims to vindicate Spain's humanitarian contributions against the Black Legend. The author has worked in humanitarian aid in conflicts and has collaborated in media such as Vozpópuli.
